Worcester Fire Department divers recovered the body from the lake around 2:21 p.m., on Tuesday, Jan. 3, Worcester Deputy Fire Chief Adam Roche told Daily Voice.

Police and firefighters teams began searching the Shrewsbury side of the Kenneth F. Burns Memorial Bridge after receiving reports that someone had gone into the water just after 10 a.m.

Fire crews began searching for the area near the White City Shopping Center Tuesday morning and requested K9 units and a dive team later in the day, the Worcester Telegram reported.

Worcester fire officials told the newspaper that they were investigating a potential suicide, but Roche did not comment on that to Daily Voice. The victim's identity was not released.

The search was assisted by the Shrewsbury Police Department, Worcester EMS, Shrewsbury Fire Department, Massachusetts Environmental Police, Massachusetts State Police, and the Department of Conservation and Recreation.
